If all resources are spent on the open world again, we'll end up with Catalyst 2.0 and that's not a good thing. I on the other hand, would want them to go linear again. These were the most fun parts of the game because they were so challenging! We need more of this. The name escapes me for now) in Catalyst. A stage editor or additional stages like the Time Trial Map Pack in 1 or the…(parts where you run around the white room with moving parts and lasers. Tag, Races, Capture the Flag, the list goes on…Ħ – My final note. Give us extra races to unlock or skins for ranking up so high. The runners rank in Catalyst feels meaningless. For now, there isn’t much reason to make your own race in Catalyst unless you have that creative desire, but I’d think adding rewards or limited addition…something to beating other peoples time on the leader boards should earn something. Collecting documents, bags, and recordings are fine for world building, but what about the scrip we collect from the delivery missions? How come at the very least (and this will sound unrealistic) we can’t purchase any…powerups or something from the scrip we make? What are these scrip-making opportunities that we take ourselves on if we can’t use the scrip we make?ĥ – The Social Play features in both 1 and Catalyst are pretty great, but I’d add some incentive to use these features. Just what are they used for anyway? How come we can’t get to them? Or, as my biggest example the BAUBLE MALL that we blow up early in the game! Why are we not allowed to traverse that? The mall in the first game was fun as hell to run around in! Upon this, the Greylands and Food domes deserve to be levels themselves.Ĥ – More meaningful post game content. For example, those HUGE FLYSHING SHIPS IN THE SKY. I don’t necessarily mean make the open world bigger (even though that should be a given for future installments) but there are so many places inside of glass that we didn’t get to explore that feel like huge missed opportunities. Although, for DICE’s first attempt the open world is pretty well done and atmospheric af.ģ – More places to explore. I just think they had something unique and it got lost.ġ - A better story mode that shows that we accomplish something rather than tell us that we basically made no impact and ends on a cliffhanger.Ģ – Like everyone else has stated, a better open world that flows better rather than being cut into segments. We could play as Faith’s sister leaving the force to become a runner, so we have an excuse to be learning the ropes, and you have baked right in the potential for interesting character dynamics with her having a cop background and Faith not liking that. A sequel to the original, abandoning Catalyst is what I’d prefer. The setting of the original was interesting because of how close it felt, and honestly the idea of an authoritative ruling class that’s mostly liked and accepted was an interesting twist, keeping things glossy and seemingly happy. I definitely agree on having it be more gadgety and high-tech was too played out. That, and skill points felt really “game-y” after the first one did everything it could to remove that feeling, kinda like the hud-lessness in Dead Space adds to the atmosphere and makes it more atmospheric. Frankly, open world is the flavor of the decade, but it weakens some games and Mirror’s Edge was one of them.
